About Me

Me in the Peruvian Andes in 2007

My name is Louise and I’m the “face” behind NorthHantsMum.

I am married to “Mr NHM” and we have a daughter, “Miss NHM”, who was born in March 2011. She is my inspiration for NorthHantsMum.

I have lived, on and off, in Basingstoke since I was five years old.

I went to Fort Hill School (don’t judge me!) and Queen Mary’s College in Basingstoke, before going to University in Sunderland.

I’ve lived in Toronto, Southampton, Leeds and Germany but the “elastic band syndrome” always brought me home.

How it all started

I started NorthHantsMum (NHM) in June 2011 when Miss NHM was three months old and I was on maternity leave. Miss NHM was a sleeper so I found I had a lot of time on my hands.

I had wanted to start a blog for a long time but had no idea what to do it on.

I realised I was getting a lot of conflicting advice in the early months of becoming a Mum and I wanted to share what I had learnt.

NorthHantsMum developed from this.

These posts explain Why I continue to write NorthHantsMum – May 2013 and  why I write NHM in 2014

NHM is my Hobby

NHM is my hobby. I work on it in my “spare” time.

I work four days a week for a large blue chip organisation. I’m very, very lucky that I can work from home most of the time.

This means that the time I would spend commuting and on my lunchbreaks, is spent working on NHM (or doing housework! lol).

My family clearly is my priority, so I fit in NHM when I can. This is why you may experience a delay in my responses to your emails and messages.

I worked on NHM for four and a half years and didn’t make any money from it. However since the “new” NHM website went live in August 2015 I have been working on the Business Directory and other paid items so they can fund the cost of NHM.

NHM will always be Not For Profit regardless of any money that I make via NHM. All monies made will be put back into NHM.

Thank you

NHM has grown beyond my wildest dreams and I LOVE the opportunities that it has opened up for me.

I’ve met so many wonderful people and found mine and Mr NHM’s Part Time Business because of NHM. My life is better because of both.

I hope you enjoy the posts that I publish. I love getting your feedback and seeing conversations develop because of posts I’ve published. You can always email me at NorthHantsMum@gmail.com.

I would like to give an extra big special thanks to those people who have contributed to NHM, especially: Shona, Juliet, Abigail, Sophie, Lorna, Jo, Peta and Claire.

Most of all, I would like to thank you for following this blog and for all of your support!

(oh and of course a huge thank you to Mr NHM and Miss NHM for putting up with me writing NorthHantsMum! lol)

    Hi there,

I’m sure you get load of people enquiring about this so I’ll get on with it, – im trying to increase awareness of my doula related blog which is http://www.beautifullyblooming.co.uk, I’d love to submit a post for your site. If you’re still accepting posts, please let me know and I can put together a draft for your approval. I was thinking something about the aquanatal yoga trend, its grown massively in recent months in the UK and everyone seems to be talking about it, (well the mums and “mums to be” in my social group anyway)
    Thanks
    Danielle
