Thank you to everyone who came along to the NHM Spring Meet Up this morning!

Thank you VERY much to everyone who came along today.

It was another fab morning!

Several highlights from this morning include:

  • Watching a little girls face light up when she saw her face painted
  • Watching the children listening to Bella from Beauty and the Beast. She has an AMAZING voice!
  • Listening to Miss NHM mouthing along to the words of the songs!
  • Hearing lots of ladies making new friends and brainstorming new ideas!

Thanks very much to the ladies who had stalls today:

Thank you also to the fabulous team at Playdays who always ensure that the event runs smoothly.

If you would like more details about what happens at a Meet Up or would like to know details about how to have a stall at a Meet Up, please drop me a line at NorthHantsMum@gmail.com.

See you at the next one!

Thank you from BVA!!!!!!!!!!!!

What an AWESOME email I received today (see below).

Thank you again to everyone who donated to this fabulous appeal. I’m certain that your support was one the reasons it was such a success this year!

Yay for us!

BVA Christmas Food Box Appeal 2014

Dear Louise and the NorthHantsMum community,

On behalf of everyone at Basingstoke Voluntary Action, we would like to thank you for supporting this years’ ‘Food Boxes for Basingstoke’ appeal so wholeheartedly.

Your hard work, team spirit and kindness generated a huge amount – not only food boxes, but clothes, new toys and books, and even gifts for pets, in addition to financial contributions which have enabled us to provide tents, sleeping bags, waterproofs and vital items to our homeless community.

This year the response was enormous, and thanks to people and organisations like yourselves we were able to distribute in excess of 300 boxes, including around 70 larger boxes for families, via the following agencies and charities:

  • May Place
  • Jacobs House
  • The Camrose Centre
  • YMCA
  • Neighbourcare
  • MaD (teenage parents)
  • Young Carers
  • Citizens Advice
  • YouTrust
  • Homestart
  • Mary Rose Court
  • HCC Learning Disabilities team
  • HCC Children’s Services Team

The impact of this cannot be under-estimated, not only from a practical point of view, but for someone who is socially isolated or vulnerably housed, simply knowing that people care can make a massive difference at a time of year which can be a huge struggle especially if you are alone or without money.

The feedback from all involved has been incredibly positive and this campaign really has helped to make Christmas for hundreds of individuals and families around Basingstoke and Deane. We hope you feel your donation was worthwhile, the BVA staff and volunteers who supported this campaign certainly do.

Here at Basingstoke Voluntary Action we strive year round to support and enrich our local community. If there is anything we can help your business or organisation with, from providing volunteer opportunities or advice on fundraising, to developing business/charity partnerships please do not hesitate to let us know.

Once again, from the team at BVA and everyone whose Christmas has been touched by your kindness, thank you all and a Happy New Year,

Best wishes

Rebecca Kennelly

Thank you to everyone who came along yesterday!

Thank you very much to everyone who came along to the NHM Meet Up yesterday.

It was a brilliant event!

I’ve had some lovely comments from people who came along, so I’m glad you all had a lovely time.

Thank you as always to the Playdays team who allowed me to use their facilities for free for the morning and a special thank you to Leah who helped us to set up first thing.

Thank you also to the lovely people who came along and represented their businesses:

  • Tinkerbell from Routine Riots – who went down a storm! She had the cutest little helper too, who was so excited to meet her 😀

Unfortunately I didn’t get to take as many pictures as I wanted (Sorry Lynsey and Sarah!) but thank you to those parents who agreed I could use these pictures on the blog.

It was such a successful event that I’m hoping to do another one in September, however it will be on a different day as I think I’ve exhausted the “Wednesday” people!

I will probably send out a poll soon asking people to let me know the best day for them to attend a Meet Up, so keep an eye out for that.

Don’t forget the next NHM event is the Summer picnic on the 12th of July. I hope to see you there!

Thank you again to everyone who came along yesterday and for your fabulous support!

I can’t say enough how much it means to me to know that I’ve got such an awesome NHM community supporting me :-D.

Thank you!!!!!

Thank you so much to everyone who came along this morning. It was a resounding success! Yay!

I’m really sorry I didn’t get to chat properly to everyone. There were so many people that I wanted to talk too but there just wasn’t time.

I wanted to give a big shout out to the wonderful team at Playdays. Kristy, Cheryl and the rest of the team did a great job of setting up and helping to ensure that everything went smoothly. Thank you Ladies!

I also wanted to thank all of you who came along who represented local businesses. It was great to meet so many of you! Hopefully I haven’t missed anyone below. I completely forgot to take one of the bags myself (DUH!) so have done the list from memory. If I’ve missed anyone, let me know ASAP!

The next Meet Up (Summer 2014 ) is already booked for Wednesday 25th June, so get the date in your diary now! I’m sorry that it’s another Wednesday, for those who aren’t able to make Wednesday’s, but I’m hoping to do another Meet Up on a Friday and possibly one on a weekend if people are interested.

I also wanted to make you aware of another date for your calendar. I’ve set up a NHM Networking lunch for Monday 28th April, 12pm to 1pm. If you would like more details, please drop me an email at NorthHantsMum@gmail.com.

Thanks again and I’m looking forward to seeing you soon!

(10 minutes after this post was published, I got told off for not mentioning Mr NHM in my thanks. Opps! So… MASSIVE THANK YOU to my wonderful husband who sorted out the stickers – which are fantastic! – and who has been very supportive of my NHM career to date. Thank you!!!!!!)

NorthHantsMum’s 1st Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A WHOLE YEAR!!!! NorthHantsMum has been running for a whole year! YAY! A couple of points to note at this momentous and poignant moment… (well it’s a momentous and poignant moment for me even though it isn’t for anyone else! lol)

Thoughts  (in no particular order)

How can it possibly be a whole year since I started NHM? How?

I have learnt so much in the last 12 months some of which are:

  • how to be a better parent
  • how to set up a successful blog
  • how to type single handedly
  • how wonderful it is to introduce other people to each other
  • and many, many other things.

I never, ever expected NHM to be as successful as it has. I couldn’t have done it without all of the support and encouragement from you all. Thank you.

Extra specially BIG thanks go out to my husband and daughter. Without them I never would have had the inspiration for NHM or started the blog. They are my world.

(Yes, I appreciate this is starting to sound like an Oscar speech but I will stop in a minute! lol)

Special thanks to all of my friends who have supported NHM, written posts and given feedback (whether they wanted to or not!): Sophie, Abigail, Claire, Jo, Su, Kate, Laura, Mel, Hilary, Martina and everyone else who has supported and encouraged me.

Milestones

  • Over 800 readers and still more every day.
  • 262 posts published
  • Three different interfaces that people connect to NHM via:
  • 22 “Lists” set up on Facebook (under the NHM Friend), ranging from “Toddler Classes in Basingstoke” to “Local Mum Businesses”.
  • 9 Guest Post’s and several more lined up. (Thanks to all of the business people for your continued support!)

So, here’s hoping to at least another year of NHM! Hopefully you will still stick around for whatever comes next!

(I am now going to go and sob quietly in a corner and drink a very small bottle of champagne to celebrate!! YAY! Normal service will resume on Monday.)

Happy Weekend to all you wonderful NHM Readers and thank you again for reading and contributing!
