Half-term sure to be eventful in Basingstoke

An intimate pop-up venue which will host entertainment for all ages is coming to Basingstoke for a wide range of activities and performances throughout the February half term.

The Event Box is a temporary indoor venue which will be in the Market Place at the Top of Town in Basingstoke from Monday 18 February until Saturday 23 February. A full programme of free daytime activities for the family will be on offer as well as ticketed events for children and adults in the evenings.

The initiative is being run and organised by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Basingstoke Together, which is the face of the Basingstoke Business Improvement District (BID). The BID’s aim is to help Basingstoke town centre to thrive by creating destination events, engaging with consumers and supporting retailers and businesses.

Lucy Boazman, Chief Executive of Basingstoke Together, said: “We’re so excited to be hosting such a fabulous calendar of events here in Basingstoke at The Event Box. At this time of year, we’re all a little more inclined to stay at home or indoors. However, we want to encourage people to venture out and explore the fun activities which are on offer during this traditionally quieter time of the year.

“We hope that lots of people of all ages will make the most of this fun opportunity to come and join in the fun at The Event Box. We also hope that it helps to cement Basingstoke as a great destination for families as well as visitors of all ages.”

The full schedule includes:

Monday 18th February, 11am – 6pm, The Jurassic Box
Head off on a dino dig to discover T-Rex bones, train your dinosaur and find out about the world when dinosaurs used to roam. Arts, crafts and dino dress up for youngsters.

Ideas for February 2013 Half Term

It’s half term in a couple of weeks time (18th Feb to 22nd Feb) so I’ve put together a post with some ideas of Half Term events.  The events below are happening throughout Half Term week. I’ll update this post as I come across other Half Term activities.

October 2012 Half Term Activities

It looks like it’s going to be an interesting week next week. The clocks go back this weekend (Spring Forward, Fall Back – Gotta love the Americans for that one!), it’s half term next week so the roads will be quieter (yay!) and there’s a strong rumour that the weather is going to get a lot colder and it could possibly snow!?!?!?! That would be pretty cool for the half term, even if it is a bit early!

Below are a list of posts that have previously been published on NHM for half term’s and are still relevant for this half term. Over the weekend I’m hoping to publish a post that details more specific activities arranged for next week. Thanks to those of you (Becky!) who have already given me details. If you have any half term events you would like to publicise, please let me know.

I hope you have a wonderful half term (if it affects your children) and if it snows you get to make lots of snow angels with them 😀

Half Term Outing Ideas in and around Basingstoke – Feb 2012

Sorry, I should have scheduled this for Tuesday! Better late than never 😉

There are so many places with events and activities going on this week that I thought it would just be easier to send you all the links. Don’t forget to check your local Children Centre’s webpage to see what their half term schedule is. Their events are often a lot cheaper than elsewhere. Hope you manage to find lots to do this week!
